(NASDAQ:AAPL), Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) are technology giants, and major enterprises in their niche and inspire many entrepreneurs around the world. Taking cognizance of this fact recently was one of India’s high profile politicians, Dr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Ministerial candidate for the BJP. Addressing an august body of academics and students during the 9th Convocation at Chennai’s premier privately-begun University, SRM, he urged the nation’s young and the private sector to work in unison to build India’s education sector.
Modi to students and private entrepreneurs
Mr. Modi while addressing them commented that, “My advice to you is created a similar enterprise here. Create Microsoft here. Create an Apple. Create a Google here in India. And then own it and manage it.” He lamented that despite 65 years of Independence India has not made much progress in the educational field. He added that with nearly 65% if the Indian population is aged 35 years and below, an age which makes the country home of the youngest populations in the world. This means that the future is promising and needs to be focused beyond individual achievements but in nation building as well.
He observed that with knowledge India would bring about the discerning change required for bridging education and building the nation. He recognized that no university from India was regarded as a top-ranking institution due to lack of ‘identity’ and the need to work on it. He urged the members gathered to make ‘knowledge’ the ‘most potent tool’ which will help in the fight against poverty. He also reiterated that India does not lack the culture in terms of philosophers nor the intelligent minds. He concluded that with private sector could drive the country into beginning world-class organizations like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).
