Staples, one of the biggest internet retailers across the globe, today announced that it has plans to enable its stores in the U.S. with the new Apple Pay® technology. The retailer seeks to embrace more secure payment alternatives, which would enable its customers to make private purchases from their recently launched Apple products.
Apple Pay At Staples’ Stores
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new payment method, which it unveiled yesterday, called Apple Pay, provides customers with the possibility of making purchases and payments through their Apple smartwatch, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The company promises secure payments through this method, which would protect users’ private data from any theft.
Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS)’ global e-commerce Executive Vice President, Faisal Masud, expects its customer’s to enjoy the convenience of Apple Pay. He says that this would let the company offer its customers an easier and safer way to check-out at the various stores. He cites the move as an underlining example of the company’s commitment to innovation.
Commitment To Innovation
Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS), which is an authorized reseller of the technology giant’s iPhones, iPads and other accessories, has taken up a series of omnichannel updates to ease the shopping experience of its customers at its stores. Other moves in this direction include the latest iPad app, which enables customers to chose and order their product online. Customers are offered a special provision of picking-up their products from any store of their convenience within two hours from order. Staples has also worked to enhance the functionality of its in-store Staples.com kiosk.
As Businesswire reports in an article, Staples seeks to make its stores equipped for Apple Pay by the end of the year. Apart from this, the company also aims at integrating Apple Pay into its iOS 8 app. It would also feature functions available in the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
