Rio Tinto plc (ADR) (NYSE:RIO) Implement Mineral Recovery Technology

Boston, MA 09/24/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Rio Tinto plc (ADR) (NYSE:RIO) is now taking the advantage of the latest technology to improve the mining operations. Recently, it launched the 3D mapping technology (RTVis 3D software) as pre-measure to understand the mineral deposits in mines.

RTVis 3D software

RTVis 3D software provides the exact mapping of the mines that have high-value ore. It will create 3D images of the mine pit while addressing the boundary identification and accurate drilling process like blasting.

As a result, it will improve the dig rates and also classify the waste from high-quality ore. Hence, the process will reduce the waste management and also operating costs significantly. ,

Technology advantage

The mining industry is now adopting the next generation technologies that help them to improve their operational capabilities. Even, Rio Tinto is also advancing towards the next phase through its Mine of the Future programme by incorporating new technologies like RTVis 3D software.

The technologies will help the miner to identify the location, size and quality of ore available prior to the drilling process. Similarly, the RTVis is the low-cost software that will complement to the Rio Tinto plc (ADR) (NYSE:RIO)’s existing technology to improve the production capacity and also reduces the operation costs across its low-cost, high-quality portfolio of assets. It will also provide the information on the impact of equipment at the sites during its early stage of the mining process.

Rio Tinto’s Innovation Head, John McGagh said that RTVis will offer a quick access to view the mines as an ultrasound, which was not available in early days. It helps the team to evaluate and compare the available information to support the mining operations. Rio Tinto plc (ADR) (NYSE:RIO) already implemented the RTVis in West Angelas iron ore mine, Western Australia.

He also said that Rio Tinto will implement the technology in other mines for copper, diamonds, minerals and energy exploration to make the operation more effective and efficient. Rio Tinto plc (ADR) (NYSE:RIO) will demonstrate the efficiency of the 3D technology at the International Mining and Resources Conference, Melbourne on September 22-26, 2014.
