Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) Hosts Annual Meeting of Shareholders

The excellent performance in the previous quarter by Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) seems to be paying off now. As per the reports, the board of directors of the company has declared a quarterly profit of 28 cents per share on the common stock of the company. The dividend is payable on June 2, 2015 to all the shareholders as per the records of May 8, 2015. It’s the 306th consecutive occasion when Pfizer has announced a quarterly dividend.

Management’s Call:

The senior leadership team of the company looked happy to make this announcement. According to Ian Read, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE), the company returned almost $12 billion in 2014 to all the shareholders through share repurchases and dividends. The management has decided to take the shareholders’ value to newer heights in 2015 by offering higher dividends, and other initiatives. The company will make announcements about dividends increment in December 2015. Pfizer has also planned a share repurchase activity, details of which will be announced at a later date.

Apart from the ordinary activities to enhance the value of the shareholders, the company is also planning to acquire Hospira, which is likely to strengthen the expertise and business reach of the company. This acquisition will help the company to accelerate the value creation for the shareholders in the short terms as well as long term.

Apart from the dividend announcement, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) also made public the news about its board of directors. All the eleven nominees for the Directors’ post were re-elected for the next 12 months. Along with the selection of the directorship nominees, shareholders also ratified the company’s decision to select KPMG as its independent registered public accounting firm for the current year. The final results of the meeting are expected to come out in the next few days.
