Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE): Combination Growth and Innovation

Boston, MA 07/18/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) is re-launching its pet idea titled FOGO (Fear of Getting Old). With revenues exceeding over $50 billion, it has enough room to spend and attract potential customers and engage them in something worthy. As part of the campaign, Pfizer hired Huge, an advertising company, to grab attention of people in the age group 20’s and 30’s. Huge would do the survey, a digital one, to the satisfaction of Pfizer. It has a website named www.getold.com solely dedicated to allow the respondents to discuss, post and give ideas related to aging process. In the U.S, about 10K people are expected to turn 65 years everyday by 2030. So it looks worthwhile to be in touch with the generation to get a sense of aging and evolving process. Such a survey, generally called panel survey, would be of high interest to researchers at Pfizer as well.

Absorption Systems get a License

Pfizer has entered into agreement with Absorption Systems to in-license BCRP-MDCK cells. Absorption Systems would use these cells to transfect with the human ABCG2 gene that combines with protein known as Breast Cancer Resistance Protein (BCRP). Absorption System would develop a process called BCRP assay system that would enable testing of new drug on respondents for interaction with BCRP.

The InnoPharma Acquisition

Pfizer reached another milestone by announcing the acquisition of InnoPharma Inc, which is a privately held pharmaceutical company. Under the terms of agreement, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) would pay $225 million upfront and with $135 million conditional payments. InnoPharma at present has 10 generic products up its sleeves and 19 products in the pipeline filed with the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It also has more than thirty injectable and ophthalmic products under development. InnoPharma brings with it strong talent base, exceptional research capabilities and suite of drugs that would reinforce Pfizer to deliver top class treatment to the patients.
