OV16850 Of OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OVTI)

Boston, MA 10/08/2014 (wallstreetpr) – OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OVTI) launched a new 16-megapixel imaging solution, named as OV16850 aimed for next-gen of premium Smartphones. It will provide high-resolution Mobile imaging and video features in 16:9 aspect ratios in the new range of Smartphones. OV16850 has got 1.12-micron pixel technology. The sensor volume production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2015.

High-imaging solution

The new 16-megapixel sensor is the next step ahead in the race of providing better resolution to Smartphone users. OV16850 features are designed so as to provide the best experience of using Smartphone Camera. It matches the display aspect ratios existing in the display resolutions of 1440p Quad HP and 1080p Full HD. The new imaging solution is integrated with the staked die technology of OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OVTI). It possesses a high chief ray angle that allows the availability of the solution packed in a 9.5 mm x 9.5 mm x 5.5 mm module.

The other features

The 1/2.6-inch OV16850 can capture 4K2K video at 30 FPS, full-resolution16-megapixel images at 30 FPS, 720p video at 120 FPS and QHD video at 60 FPS. The new imaging solution delivers excellent signal-to-noise ratio. It provides best-in-class sensitivity and full-well capacity feature for a 1.12-micron pixel-based imaging solution. It has got additional feature of alternate-row high dynamic range timing. It allows getting a high-quality video in difficult lighting conditions.

The other launch

Recently, OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OVTI) also launched a global shutter camera solution named as OVM6211 CameraCubeChip. It has advanced functionality features, compact form-factor and easy implementation process. It can be used in several devices including notebooks, wearables and smart devices. The main features in the camera re computer vision capabilities and key machine. The camera uses OmniPixel3-GS global shutter pixel allowing it to capture full resolution video at 120 FPS. The unique camera has got unique power-efficient mode that saves on power and can capture the pictures and videos in an “always aware” mode.
