Boston, MA 10/08/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) and its co-partner Lime Microsystems are showcasing their new multi-standard SDR (software-defined radio) platform at the Military Communications Conference (MILCOM) 2014. MILCOM is happening on October 6 – 8 at Baltimore Convention Center.
New multi-standard SDR platform
The platform primarily based on the Altera’s FPGAs and Enpirion PowerSoCs and Lime’s field-programmable radio frequency (FP-RF) chip. It designs the radio to receive and transmit different RF including waveforms depending upon the usage. The RF device provides flexibility and also improves the performance at low power.
Lime’s CEO, Ebrahim Bushehri said that the combination of FP-RF transceiver with Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) FPGA will increase the level of wireless performance and become a complete solution for SDR applications. The combination provides complete programmable wireless systems including military communications, remote radio heads, base stations, and also applications like software defined radios and Internet of Things.
Both the companies work together to improve the designer experience while providing the next generation technology to program the RF devices. It will help to support wide range of wireless applications like multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), waveform and other RF transmissions that are useful for various military applications.
