NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG) Solar Farm Delivers All Its Output To 50 Vermont-Based Customers

Boston, MA 05/15/2014 (wallstreetpr) – NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG) certainly has brought pleasing news for the residential and commercial users. The leading independent electricity producer based in the U.S., NRG ENERGY Inc., is all set to offer power to 50 commercial and residential users residing in Vermont. These consumers agreed to purchase all the output from a neighbouring solar company. The community’s long desire for a cleaner energy for the future was realised when Rutland’s community solar project is delivering the electricity.

The deal signed

Both the residential and commercial customers decided to buy 3 kilowatts of power from the 150 kilowatt photovoltaic solar farm based in Rutland, Vermont, reported the electricity producer in its statement. The locally situated Green Mountain Power Corp is delivering the capacity.

NRG’s goal

NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG)  has set a target of providing solar to each of its 3 million retail users. The company’s goal is a challenging one; however, it is worth observing whether the company is capable of delivering far-reaching solar power to such a huge mass of customers. The Rutland project was initiated by its NRG Residential Solar Solutions unit; the latter is a fully-owned subsidiary of NRG Energy. NRG Solar Solutions is also known for leasing rooftop systems to home proprietors who actually end up paying little or nothing forthright, but is efficient in signing long-term agreements to buy electricity. The Rutland, Vermont Community Solar Project is currently functioning serving the requirements of citizens and businesses in the service utility area.

Customers are beneficial

The buyers signed 10-year deals to procure the power. It is quite evident that the home owners and commercial users are in an extremely advantageous position in entering into the contract. They would be immensely benefitting from the project. The customers will be able to carry the power with them if they are shifting to a new location within the confinement of the utility’s service region, stated an NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG)  spokesman, David Knox.
