During the weekend, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) revealed their latest creation in the application division.
The company launched a new Android application called Intel Remote Keyboard that allows users to transform their mobile phones into a trackpad and keyboard for their PCs. The free Android app allows users to remotely control their computers. The Giant chipmaker had initially created the application for use with small computers, though it can be used with any PC operating on Windows 7 or 8.
The application is freely available on Google Play. All it takes is a download on your mobile device and an installation of the support software on the target PC. Pairing the mobile phone and the PC is not necessary if the two are connected to the same WIFI network. This is because the new allocation will automatically detect the PC.
The app is very easy to use, therefore no new skills are required. It is as simple as having your computer’s keyboard and trackpad or mouse appear on your mobile phone. For preference and ease of use, the application can be operated in landscape or portrait mode. The App takes the whole Windows interface into consideration. It even features common Windows familiarities such as the escape button, arrows, and it even has a Windows button.
Trackpad functionalities have also been catered for. One tap on the screen represents a left click while tapping with two fingers represents a right click. The functions of the trackpad are contained in the free space above the keyboard. A small space on the right side can be used as a scroll bar. The remote keyboard app will be a welcome addition particularly for those who use their PCs for entertainment purposes. This will eliminate the need always go back to the PC to use the actual keyboard for navigation.
The app is only available for Android devices for now. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has not announced whether it will be available for other platforms in the future.
