Boston, MA 09/03/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Designer and manufacturer of a range of analog power integrated circuits, Micrel, Incorporated (NASDAQ:MCRL) had unveiled one of the smallest Camera Flash LED Driver integrating LED driver circuit and a 1.2A boost converter into a small chip scale package.
Features
Micrel, Incorporated (NASDAQ:MCRL) indicated that the ultra-compact camera flash driver would operate between 2.7V and 5.5V featuring a maximum of 92% efficiency and the solutions were ideally suitable for Li-Ion battery functioned portable applications like tablet computers, phone cameras, digital cameras, and handset video equipment.
The product would have high frequency switches of 4MHz for the MIC2874 and 2MHz for the MIC2873 enabling the miniature size chip inductor usage and small capacitors with input/output thus reducing the complete power footprint to a solution size of lower than 10mm squared, a release from the company indicated.
Moreover, the devices can be operated in torch mobile or a flash with the facility to offer a linear or boost output by using a single wire communication interface apart from external pins. Micrel, Incorporated (NASDAQ:MCRL) indicated that both its MIC2874 and MIC2873 had low standby current, but high efficiency thereby helping to increase battery life particularly during video flash or torch mode operations.
Pricing And Samples
Micrel said that both its MIC2874 and MIC2873 have been priced at $0.30 and $0.26 respectively and were available with 1,000 quantities volume. It had also said that there was online provision for ordering samples.
Management Speaks
Micrel, Incorporated (NASDAQ:MCRL) Vice President of Marketing for linear and power solutions, Brian Hedayati, said that it was excited to provide leading edge of camera flash solution to its customers with 4 MHz switching frequency. He said that these products were ideally suited for smart devices where the board space was a premium.
The product is aimed at meeting the next generation of products such as mobile phones and tablets, and its bright Flash LED drivers reduce solution size for flash applications allowing 40% reduction in package size.
