Johnson& Johnson (NYSE:JNJ): Moving Towards A Gradual Growth

Johnson & Johnson had also released the financial results for Q1 2014 recently. The results look positive and portray that the company is headed towards growth and development.

Increased dividend rate

Johnson & Johnsonhas declared that it would be increasing the quarterly dividend by a 6.1%. Earlier the rate of a quarterly dividend was $0.66 per share, which has now been increased to $0.70 per share, with the approval of the Board of Directors of the company. This news was declared by the company at the Annual Shareholders Meeting, which was held at Brunswick on Aril 24, 2014.

The Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), namely, Alex Gorsky, said that this increase has been done in order to give recognition to the strong position of the company, financially. He also said that the Board of Directors had voted in favor of this increase in order to portray confidence in the positive future of Johnson & Johnson.

On an annual basis, the dividend on each share of Johnson & Johnson has increased from $2.64 to $2.80. The dividend for the second quarter of 2014 would become payable on June 10, 2014 to the shareholders on record at the close of business on May 27, 2014. The dividend for Q1 of 2014 would be payable on May 22, 2014.

Results of Q1 2014

Johnson & Johnson has reported in its financial results fro Q1 that the sales of the company amount to a total sum of $18.1 billion. The sales have shown an increase of 3.5% on a year-over-year basis. The domestic sales and international sales of Johnson & Johnson, both have increased by 2.2% and 4.5% respectively. The operational growth of the company has been reported to increase by 7.9%.
