Boston, MA 10/08/2014 (wallstreetpr) – International Rectifier Corporation (NYSE:IRF) has introduced AUIRFN8458 and AUIRFN8459 automotive-qualified 40V COOLiRFET™ power MOSFETs. It will enhance the efficiency of the low power motor applications. It will offer benchmark on-state resistance for automotive applications that require compact size and improved performance. Some of the automotive applications are automotive body control and pump motor control.
The product portfolio
The new products AUIRFN8458 and AUIRFN8459 are the first products in the automotive-qualified 40V 5x6mm dual PQFN COOLiRFET™ power MOSFETs. The AUIRFN8459 can carry 50A high current and delivers ultra-low 5.9mOhm Rds per channel benchmark performance. The differentiating point is 50% size reduction feature offered compared with conventional DPAK packages. They make ideal products for 12V conventional automotive applications. It fulfills the requirement of a higher efficiency and power density required in 12V conventional automotive applications. It provides space savings and motor control in these automotive applications.
The features
The new devices provide a low thermal path to the PCB. It enhances the thermal performance compared to an SO-8 package. The result is improved efficiency, higher power density and reduced costs. The devices will undergo static and dynamic part average testing. They have to pass the 100% automated wafer level visual inspection. Both the testing and inspection is a part of International Rectifier Corporation (NYSE:IRF)’s automotive quality testing initiatives. It is meant to identify any existing defects in the devices so that it can be rectified, and the devices can make error free.
The standards
As per AEC-Q101 qualification, there should not be more than a 20% change in Rds after 1,000 temperature cycles of testing. Both the devices pass the defined AEC-Q101 standards. They are lead-free and environmentally friendly. The devices feature RoHS compliant bill of materials. AUIRFN8459TR pricing starts from $0.69 each in 10,000-unit quantities and AUIRFN8458TR pricing starts from $0.48 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
