Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) And Witricity Enter Into Technology Licensing Agreement For Bringing Cord-Free Devices To Market

Boston, MA 06/13/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) on June 12, 2014 entered into a technology licensing agreement with WiTricity, a company enabled with offering wireless power transfer over a long distance. As per the agreement, WiTricity will be working with Intel in order to integrate the patented technology of WiTricity for allowing efficiency and high performance wireless charging solutions for those computing devices that are powered by Intel. This would allow more autonomous actions as well as seamless wireless charging experience to the users.

The licensing agreement and Rezence™ specification

The focal point of this licensing agreement is Rezence™ specification that was developed by Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP). This Rezence™ specification has now been well adopted by the leading mobile phone chipmakers of the world, mobile manufacturers as well as other crucial industry players. Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) has both WiTricity as well as Intel on its Board, which allows the company to drive technical direction along with adoption of Rezence specification. Rezence can easily allow wireless charging solutions by which it is easy to interoperate from it with other devices that are Rezence-enabled.

The near-field resonant technology with Rezence™ specification is capable of delivering user-friendly wireless charging experience.  Rezence can offer exceptional benefits to the users by enabling them to simultaneously charge multiple devices that have different powering requirements.

Comments from Intel Vice President and General Manager of User Experience

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) Vice President and General Manager of User Experience, Sanjay Vora, said that the feedback from end users regarding frustrations that they faced while dealing with power adapters and different wires for the PCs, tablets and phones, was quite overwhelming. And therefore, he added, Intel had a vision to get rid of all wires from Intel’s platforms.

In context with the agreement, he said that it was a major step taken by the company in a right direction and that it would allow all the Intel companies to work together towards delivering next-gen devices that do not require power cords.
