Boston, MA 06/13/2014 (wallstreetpr) – GT Advanced Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:GTAT) on June 12, 2014 announced that the company entered into agreement with Qatar Solar Energy for supplying its HiCz(TM) 200 furnaces for latter’s integrated PV manufacturing project in Doha. The supply agreement is however dependent on the Qatar Solar Energy’s receipt of government approvals as well as financing. After all this, GT will start receiving the equipment orders.
Low-cost and high efficiency solar materials guaranteed through the technology
GT Advanced Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:GTAT) said that it had protected a project victory for next-gen, proprietary HiCz continuous feeding puller technology. This technology, it is said, will help in enabling the solar industry to transition and move ahead towards lower cost and high efficiency solar materials.
What is HiCz(TM) 200 furnace?
- The HiCz(TM) 200 furnace is a proprietary product of GT Advanced Technologies.
- It is the next-gen monocrystalline PV puller which has the capability of growing n-type as well as p-type monocrystalline ingots.
- The continuous feeding growth process of HiCz(TM) 200 furnace allows a user to get significant advantages in comparison to the traditional and conventional Cz furnaces.
- HiCz(TM) 200 furnace is very well suited for production of n-type ingots.
- The growth process of HiCz(TM) 200 furnace helps in producing longer ingots that have lower resistivity and higher material uniformity. At the same time, this process brings down the cost of wafering by introducing improvements in yield and enabling higher quality material.
- The HiCz(TM) 200 furnace is strongly relied upon for providing a path of higher efficiency solar cells.
Statement from Executive Vice President, Solar Business, GT Advanced Technologies
The Executive Vice President, Solar Business,GT Advanced Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:GTAT), Dave Keck said that their company was delighted to be selected for supplying HiCz(TM)200 monocrystalline furnace to the Qatar Solar Energy. He said that this was an exciting opportunity for their company to have leading edge HiCz technology selected for being a part of the first vertically integrated PV manufacturing facility in the MENA region in Doha, Qatar. He explained further that this GT HiCz 200 furnace would be involved in production of high quality n-type wafers for solar cells which have efficiencies exceeding 22%.
