General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) To Recruit 750 Workers In Order To Build Pick-Up trucks in Wentzville, Mo.

Boston, MA 09/17/2014 (wallstreetpr) – In amidst of a lot of negative incidents, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) can take a breath of relief. According to reports, the company has decided to build small pickup trucks in Wentzville, Mo. Initial demand of these trucks has stunned GM; therefore, it has decided to recruit another 750 workers in order to complete this project right on the time. Although, no truck has been sold yet, but GM is very confident about the future surge in demand.

What prompted GM to take a quick decision:

As per the information made public by the company, around 100,000 prospective buyers have gone online in order to check GMC Canyon pickup or Chevrolet Colorado’s features and know various options to customize them. All of them have asked for a price quotation as well, which has prompted the company to take a step further and increase the pace of production. So far the company has received 30,000 advance orders from dealers. The management of General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) expects to increase the number of orders in the near future.

The company wants to add another 750 workers in what will be its third shift at its plant in Wentzville, Mo., west of St. Louis. The next phase of production is expected to commence from the month of March. The Wentzville factory already has 2600 employees and after the recruitment of another 750 people, the company will be able to fulfill clients’ demand in the least possible time. Currently, all the employees are indulged in the production of Chevrolet Express, Canyon, Colorado and GMC Savana full-size vans.

The market conditions in Wentzville are not that good, hence General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)’s decision of recruiting 750 employees in one shot seems like a gamble, but the management of GM believes that strong sales will clarify all the doubts. All the new workers will be earning $16 per hour initially, lesser than $28 per hours of those employees who are with General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) for a long time.
