Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. (ADR) (NYSE:FMS) partnered with Tennessee Kidney Foundation recently for screening of 200 people during WSMV 4 Healthy 4 Life Expo that took place recently. It had done the screening for deciding the risk factor of people and their likeliness of developing chronic kidney disease in the near future. It is one of the worst diseases that have taken place in America ever. Currently, more than 26 million American people are suffering from potentially life-threatening loss of kidney function, incurred due to CKD. Most of the patients fail to recognize it initially, which lead to even worse situation in the future. Even though, there is a huge risk of death or other dangerous outcomes in CKD, but still it can be controlled through diet changes, exercise and medication.
The worst possible result of CKD can be a failure of kidney, in such situation patient is not left with many options. He has to go either with kidney transplant or dialysis several times a week. Tennessee has one of the highest kidney failure rates in the country with over 9600 people are dependent on dialysis to stay alive.
During the recent expo, expert healthcare professionals from Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. (ADR) (NYSE:FMS) and Tennessee Kidney Foundation looked to offer kidney-awareness-risk-evaluation screening. It was done to evaluate the risk of all the participants to CKD. Screening was done through evaluation of height, blood-pressure, urine test and weight. Along with evaluation of these body parts, participants were asked a few questions as well in order to determine the exact risk. Not only were they exposed to the likelihood of SKD, but medical representatives also provided them information about Dialysis.
