Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB): The New Buzz Amid Hollywood Stars

Boston, MA 01/21/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) is now creating a buzz as Hollywood star Beyonce sought the social networking site to advertise her video. Beyonce has managed to create hype by choosing Facebook over the more popular among stars Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR).

Beyonce’s Instagram video

On the midnight of December 13, Beyonce made the announcement for her unheard new album on Facebook’s Instagram. The pop star posted a 15 second video on the popular online photo and video sharing service. It was a surprise for fans as it was completely unexpected that a pop star of her caliber could announce the launch of a new album without the media having even the slightest hint of it in advance. The big news has been a treat to Facebook as it is a perfect opportunity to claim the centre stage from Twitter when it comes to celebrity news updates.

No more ‘tweets’

With consumers rapidly switching to social media for updates on recent news, be it about sports or entertainment alike, television advertising industry is on shaky grounds. Both Facebook and Twitter are attracting advertisers with opportunities like video ad platforms. At the same time, the two are fighting against WhatsApp and other mobile communications start ups which are becoming increasingly popular especially among the youth.

Rose’s plans

The Vice President of partnerships at Facebook, Dan Rose, who has always maintained a low profile, is now leading the charge at the company. Rose is now thinking of signifying benefits of its social network to the media and entertainment industry. Twitter has always beaten the rival when it comes to this. Hence Rose is now seeking to generate mutual interest for both the company and the larger companies.

Facebook has in fact already taken some actions towards its goal. In September last year, Facebook started reporting broadcasters the details of conversations that their shows influence on the social network. It also came up with special tools to incorporate comments of Facebook users on shows such as ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”.
