Boston, MA 02/06/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Ex-Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Pair Launch Beep, First On Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P)
A pair of former employees of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) have announced a new and almost very unique equipment called Beep. This is a WiFi enabled controller that allows users to stream music to their speakers through a line-in port. And then there is more to this device.
Beep was co-founded by Daniel Conrad who worked on Nexus One at Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG). The other co-founder is Shawn Lewis who worked on the search engine company’s platform team. That is as far as they are related to the giant Internet Company that rakes in billions of dollars every year from online ad spending.
The two are now offering Beep which, over time, might end up being the center of music streaming system, much like Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) dominates also everything in Internet search. While they are getting started on hardware – Beep – software development will come as a necessity, especially looking at their game plan.
The approach to music stream
Beep will first ship with Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P)-enabled WiFi which means that those already on Pandora Media service can simply pick and plug and the deal is done. The developers of this technology have their eyes set on integrating the services with other music providers like Spotify and Rdio among other music services out there. Yet the launch on Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P) is good because it is already working.
Breaking the barrier
Perhaps it should be pointed out that Beep is not coming to reinvent the wheel. There are already services like Sonos that allow multi-room music streaming systems and which make listening to music easier than before. Yet, many of these are not only costly setups, but they also come with their own speakers. That is a barrier that Beep is going to break. Beep is connecting your unconnected speaker to the cloud and allows not just a cheaper multi-room setup option, but one that can go with any speaker you may have.
Towards this end Beep is working with various speaker manufacturers so that Beep WiFi modules can be pre-included in the products. This will even make multi-room music streaming system easier, faster and most of all, fun.
What do you pay for Beep?
The ex- Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) pair are offering the device at the retail price of $149. However, those who place pre-orders have a limited time to catch Beep at just $99.
