Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) Launches New Connected Transportation Solutions For Train Commuters

Boston, MA 09/10/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Internet Protocol-based network equipment maker, Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO), announced the launch of its new Cisco Connected Transportation Solutions meant for the train commuters. The company expects a big opportunity for the rail industry in the next one and half decades through higher readership, safety and economic benefits.

Train Commuters

Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) said that rail travelers often find themselves in a spot of bothering on the schedule of routes, condition of the railways and uncertainty clouding over the safe arrival at their final destination apart from Internet connectivity in their journey.

Therefore, Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) said that its solution would provide more productive and safer experience for the train commuters and also deliver value of the Internet of Everything, a statement issued by the company indicated. The company said that train commuters would get the advantage of connecting their smart devices to a single network of Wi-Fi irrespective of whether they entered the station or reached their final destination. This is in contrast to switching off of mobile devices whenever passengers move from the station into the train and through the journey.

The network device maker said that the users would have the reliability and speed of a Wi-Fi connection and that they don’t have to depend on the cellular data networks for either coverage or speed, which may be slow or have spotty coverage during the journey.

Big Opportunity

Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) Executive Vice President and Chief Globalization Officer for industry solution, Wim Elfrink, said that there would be a $27 billion economic value of the opportunity for the rail industry in the next one and half decades from disruptive solutions as a result of the Internet of Everything.

Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO)’s connected transportation solutions provide an application-centric infrastructure to improve communication and efficiency of transport through the connection of the unconnected like sensors, GPS tracking system, data, people and mobile devices. The solution included multiple in-station networks apart from retail communication system. It also allows advertisers and retailers to work directly with the station to provider information to travelers thus creating new avenues for business.
