BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP) Launches Carbon Management Program For Glasgow 2014 Games

Boston, MA 05/21/2014 (wallstreetpr) – BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP) is a well-known oil and gas company in the world. It is engaged in the exploration, production, refining and marketing of oil based products. The company has announced a carbon management program called BP Target Neutral for Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

BP Target Neutral program

The program will help to reduce the carbon emission by spectators visiting the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The spectators from the U.K. are asked to register at bptargetneutral.com/offsetglasgow2014. It is an initiative to encourage visitors to contribute in reducing their carbon footprint.

The program will calculate the total amount of carbon from each journey and will try to reduce it by investing in low carbon development projects across the globe. It is a non-profitable project of BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP).

Tree donation program

The program also includes a tree donation from the registered visitors. The trees will be planted in woodlands, in the Glasgow area. BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP) has been engaged in forest developments program. BP is part of the Scottish Forest Alliance. The company has invested £10m in fourteen woodlands, in Scotland.

BP is expecting that the visitors will contribute for making Glasgow 2014 as low carbon as possible. BP Target Neutral tries to make people aware of the effects of carbon. It will boost woodlands in the city. Forestry Commission Scotland, Woodland Trust Scotland and the Commonwealth Woods are the partners of BP for this project. BP is an Official Partner for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Team England and Team Scotland.

Achievements from prior projects

BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP) has been involved in such projects earlier. BP was the Official Carbon Offsetting Partner for the London 2012 Olympic as well as Paralympic Games. The carbon emissions from more than half a million visitors were offset by BP Target Neutral. BP Target Neutral created a world record for the largest number of people to offset their travel to a single event.
