Boston, MA 05/15/2013 (wallstreetpr) – BlackBerry Inc. (NASDAQ:BBRY) had announced that it would offer its instant messaging services, BBM messaging as free application on Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG)’s Android phones and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iphones.

Text only messaging service

The Chief Executive Officer of BlackBerry Inc. (NASDAQ:BBRY) Thorston Heins announced the extension of the most popular BBM messaging services to other smart phone devices in the market. The application would now be available for the iOS operating system of the iPhones of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and the Android operating system of Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG).

Capitalize on popularity

This move by BlackBerry Inc. (NASDAQ:BBRY) would enable the mobile phone manufacturer to capitalize on the popularity of BlackBerry devices among existing 60 million users and more. (NASDAQ:BBRY) might be taking risk through this feature which enables its exclusive service to be accessed by other smart phone players in the market.

The share price of BlackBerry Inc. (NASDAQ:BBRY) which had climbed 34 percent this year dropped by 1.6 percent to $15.62.
