Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch Has Reached Only 22 Percent Of Preorder Buyers

The pre-ordered Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch have been received by only a minority of customers in America. It’s estimated that 376,000 units out of a total of 1.7 million pre-orders have been supplied to American customers. Apple has a repetitive history of demand outstripping supply when it launches a new product. This applies to the Apple watch too. However, the Apple watch is not only a fresh product, it’s a fresh category with an entirely different retail experience for both Apple and its patrons.

Reservation is mandatory

Shoppers can’t just step into an Apple Store and come out with the watch. They need to have a reservation at a store if they want to have a first-person look at the watch. Once they make the decision of purchasing one, they can book the Apple Watch at the store via Apple’s website or by utilizing the Apple Store app.

Watch purchasers may sidestep Apple altogether. Globally certain luxury stores are selling the product in self owned showrooms.

The Apple Watch comes in three different types the entry-level Sport, the midlevel Apple Watch and the luxury Apple Watch. The Sport type begins at $349, the Apple Watch at $549 and the Apple Watch Edition at $10,000.

So when should patrons hope to obtain their preorders? A further 547,000 watches are set to be transported between April 27 and June 11. However approximately 647,000 purchasers, or 38% of those who preordered, are still biding their time for a delivery date notification. Apple’s website currently displays a ship date of June for those who book the watch now.

Slice estimates are founded on the count of shipping notifications sent to its database of 2 million online shoppers in America.

In-store sales to happen only from June

People intending on waiting till they could purchase the watch in an Apple store are in for a disappointment. Apple’s retail chief Angela Ahrendts declared that it will be possible only from June for in-store buying of the wearable.
