Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) TV is likely to unveil Remote with a thicker touchpad facility to offer more control for the TV viewers. The current remote has just three buttons.
According to New York Times, Apple TV is working on the TV remote to add touchpad facility for the new models. Apple TV will provide revamped TV remote along with the new models that will be introduced at its Worldwide Developer Conference in June.
The size of the revamped TV remote will be similar to that of Echo Wireless Speaker remote control of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN).
The new design is in tune with its other accessories like Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse that features touch controls.
The new TV remote will feature two physical buttons apart from a touchpad that allow easy scrolling of shows and programs.
The new TV models will also feature an App store, additional channels, and inbuilt Siri.
An Apple Spokesman, Tom Neumayr has declined to reveal details about the new product.
The present TV remote of Apple is part of the employee’s case study at Apple University. The Apple TV remote has just three buttons when compared to the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s TV remote that has seventy-eight buttons.
It is very minimal in nature. According to the employees at the Apple Training program, the company used the platform to show how its team worked and carved out an easy to use a device.
According to the Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, the main aim was to make complex computer technology easily understandable and usable by the common man. He always longed for a simplified product offering with enhanced aesthetics.
The company is making changes to the TV remote nearly eight years after the launch of the first Apple TV in the year 2007.
The Apple TV is just a set-top box that facilitates a connection to a television for Internet browsing. Its first version consists of a plastic white colored remote. The company has later introduced a metal version with few modifications to the buttons.
