Ambarella Inc (NASDAQ:AMBA) Receives an Update on Analyst Ratings after Missing Expected EPS

Ambarella Inc (NASDAQ:AMBA) recently filed its 2Q2015 and reported EPS of $0.72, which was $0.01 less than the average analyst estimates. Consequently, the stock has been suffering quite a few setbacks in the market as the share price continues to decline. Furthermore, the analysts have also updated their rating of the stock to a strong hold, but only on a short term basis.

Being a publicly traded company, the investors of Ambarella expected the company to beat, or at the very least meet, the EPS expectations. However, even missing that target slightly means loss for the company in the stock market and the effects would be visible until the filing of the 3Q2015. The expected EPS target set by analysts for this quarter is $0.89, but is subject to change as time moves on.

The recent update from analysts also points out that the short term price target would vary between $63 and $123. The past week saw heightened volatility being experienced by AMBA shares in the market. Overall, the company has lost 43.12% of its share value in the last one month. However, the company has finally started experiencing some gains, as it trades on larger volumes. The increased volatility of the stock can also be linked with the fact that there has been some insider selling going on in the company. Recently, the company CEO, Paisley Christopher, sold a total of 1,000 shares at a share price of $72.36. This has brought the insider ownership of AMBA to a mere 3.27%.

Ambarella has been working on the development of semi-conductor chips, which are used in HD video capturing, sharing and display technologies. Furthermore, the company also designs its own processing algorithms and software, to deliver a complete HD video package to its consumers.

Ambarella Inc (NASDAQ:AMBA) closed at a share price of $71.36, after reporting a trade volume of 4.35 million and experiencing an increase of 6.78% during the September 15 session.
