Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE:AMD) To Complete Its R7 Series Graphics Cards With Radeon 265 This Month

Boston, MA 02/13/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE:AMD) will be introducing a new graphic card in its R7 series this month. Expectedly, with this new launch, AMD will be filling in the performance as well as the price gap between its entry level and mid level graphics card (Radeon 260x and Radeon R9 270 respectively) available in the market.

Highest performance

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE:AMD) plans to launch Radeon 265 or the R7 265 which will reportedly be the company’s best performing R7 series card. It will support a 2GB of GDDR5 memory which will run on a 256 bit bus and the configuration will allow a compute performance of greater than 1.89 TFLOPS. Its memory speed will be 5.6 GB per sec.

AMD is boasting a performance of 25% more than their Radeon 260x and is advertising a FireStrike score of 4717. Although reviewers have still did not have the card at their disposal, some are expecting that the card will offer a 60 frames per second of gameplay for most of the mainstream titles or better graphics quality presets. But this would be possible if a 1080p monitor is being employed.

Price cut on 260x

For gamers who are unwilling to spend too much, this new launch in the R7 series would be good news. The 260x will decrease by $20, to sell at $110 with or before the introduction on the Radeon 265. The card is expected to be available in the markets by the end of February at MSRP around $149.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE:AMD)’s strategy for the Rx 200 series graphics card is expected to be completed with the launch of the Radeon 265. With its new card, the company is filling up the vast difference in not only performance, but also price between its graphics cards. It will have filled the market with a card suitable for different needs and budgets, ranging from beginner level PC game players to the core engrossed gamers.
