Active Stocks: White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd (NYSE:WTM), VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW), Western Digital Company (NASDAQ:WDC)

Boston, MA 10/14/2014 (wallstreetpr) – White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd (NYSE:WTM) announced on 13th October that it has managed to increase its stock holding in customer acquisition solutions provider TRANZACT to a majority controlling interest. The firm disclosed that it owns nearly 63 percent of the stock of TRANZACT. The holding is valued at $178 million and compares to the $280 million total enterprise value of the tech firm. The firm also noted that post the completion of this transaction TRANZACT has gone in for a reframing of its share structure, which resulted in White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd (NYSE:WTM) getting paid back nearly $44 million capital. Prior to the completion of this exercise, TRANZACT stock was owned by likes of Veronis Suhler Stevenson, which held the controlling stake in the firm.

Virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions provider VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW) announced the launch and availability of its flagship software based storage solution called VMware® Virtual SAN™ over the weekend. The product is said to be built on the VMware vSphere kernel. The software hardware combination is said provide users with a seamless “hypervisor-converged storage.” Enterprise customers would hence be able to manage “shared data store for virtual machines” using the above technology platforms.

Western Digital Company (NASDAQ:WDC) announced on 13th October that its fully owned unit HGST has managed to get its flag ship products like hard disk drives and “PCIe and SAS solid state drives” certified by VMware. The certification confirms that the product sets are vendor agnostic and hence interoperable between the storage tiers which consist of VMware Virtual SAN™. The new certifications became necessary after VMWare released new storage platform called Virtual SAN which is “hypervisor-converged.” Post the certification, prospective customers of Western Digital Company (NASDAQ:WDC) solutions can go in for their solutions without having to first evaluate the cross platform operability of the solution with their VM Ware install base.
