Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) Another Player In The Gaming Space

Boston, MA 10/02/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA)is in the business of making and offering games. It owes most of its popularity to social gaming. It owns and runs popular live games such as Farmville, Poker, Draw Something and With Friends series of games on facebook, mobiles and other platforms. It was in news recently owing to a trademark suit related to its With Friends series of live games.

Bang with friends Inc. is an organization providing matchmaking services over Facebook. The name of the organization bears a resemblance to the gaming services offered by ZNGA. The name may purport to capitalize on the popularity of the already existing With Friends series. It also interferes with the perception of the nature of activities offered by the ZNGA games. Bang with friends’ product searches people among Facebook friends for casual sex.

However, the Bang with Friends Inc. admitted the resemblance of names, and have agreed to alter the name of their organization and its brand. In the wake of this development, the parties to the Trademark suit have decided to enter into a settlement, and ZNGA has decided to withdraw the suit.

The lawsuit settlement may have been easy. However, customer loyalty is a different ball game. Social gaming being a niche market seems to working like a double edged sword for the corporations operating in the sector. The popularity of any game is a matter of choice and chance. Building recognition or sustaining a place in the gamers heart both come without guarantees or insurance. The rise of Candy Crush is a pointer in the direction. Hence, the industry may look alluring to investors, but, more advisable strategy may perhaps be to not put all your eggs in one basket, and avoid betting heavily on one particular corporation.
