Yahoo Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO) stock trading down

Boston, MA 07/24/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Yahoo Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO) which is based in Sunnyvale, California announced that it would buyback 40 million shares held by hedge fund Third Point, which is the largest investor  for  $1.16 billion, paying  $29.11 per share. Third point invested in Yahoo shares in year 2011 by purchasing 45 million shares of the company and appointed Daniel Loeb, Michael Wolf and Harry Wilson in the company’s board. Third Point LLC headed by Daniel Loeb entered an agreement to sell two-thirds of its share back to yahoo, relinquishing its three members from the board and taking a little amount of profit.

The decision of Third Point LLC to leave Yahoo is followed by fall of 4 percent in the company’s stock and Yahoo also grounded nearly 80 % in the last 12 months because of the value of Yahoo’s Asian assets and aggressive share buybacks. After this buyback company shares were down by 4.29%, the company said the transaction funds will be in cash, currently it has less than $700 million left in the existing $5 billion buyback plan announced last year. Daniel Loeb commented “Michael Wolf, Harry Wilson and I are very happy to be part of yahoo and very much pleasured to played key roles in the company ever since we joined here, Marissa Mayer appointed as yahoo CEO through our board rigorous search, after his appointment the share price of the company doubled, giving more values for the company’s shareholders.”

 Yahoo Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO) had closed on Tuesday with a price of $27.36 per share, which was observed to be a decline of 1.79% over its previous close. Through the trading session, the stock had set intraday low at $27.21 and intraday high at $28.04 per share. In the past 52 weeks, the company had touched bottoms at $14.59 and peaks at $29.83 per share. There are presently 1.08 billion outstanding shares in the market with 77% institutional holding and $29.68 billion market cap. On Tuesday, the stock had a trading volume of 25.92 million shares and average level of trading at19.65 million shares per day.
