Boston, MA 02/06/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Westpac Banking Corp’s (ADR) (NYSE:WBK) the Australia and New Zealand based banker has taken to technology in a big way. The banker will soon have processes in place, delivered via an App, allowing customers to use their bank accounts using their wearable technology gadgets like watches, glasses and any other exciting new technology in the near future.
Trials with Variation of St.George MoneyMeter App begins
Westpac Banking Corp’s (ADR) (NYSE:WBK) is currently testing wearable technology access with a variation of the St.George MoneyMeter App on Google Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glasses as well as smart watches.
The bank is also testing for location-based services as ATM locator or branch locator using smart watches.
Cash Tank App goes up on Google Glasses in NZ
Westpac Banking Corp’s (ADR) (NYSE:WBK) has also begun testing on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glasses with an App called Cash Tank in New Zealand. The future is not far, when customers can transfer funds between accounts, check balance in their bank accounts via wearable technology apps and get notifications of bank transactions.
The bank’s chief digital officer also shared that customer would soon be able to receive location specific offers through Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iBeacon.
Adding to the now crowded wearable technology space is a new entrant- HTC.
HTC Watch to debut by Dec 2014
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) watches and Google’s Glasses will soon considerable competition from other brands such as HTC. Announcing the launch of HTC Watch by Christmas this year, the chairman of HTC confirmed that HTC would soon offer other wearable’s as well. These would however, be differentiator as they would resolve much of the low-battery thresholds most of the currently available breed of wearable technology are facing. The LCD display issues too would be resolved he claimed.
Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Wear, has trouble on hand due to low battery life as well as LCD display faux pas.
