Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE:VG) Bagged Two New Patents Featuring Carrier Improving Technologies

The Holmdel, New Jersey headquartered company announced the acceptance of two of its patents yesterday, which are registered with the U.S. patent office under U.S. Pat No. 8,744,422 and U.S. Pat. No. 8,731,162. The two respective patents are “Systems and Methods for Terminating Telephony Communications to Mobile Telephony Devices” and “Systems and Methods for Matching Call Detail Records for the Same Communication Generated by Different Elements of an IP Telephony System.”

Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE:VG)’s first new patent, which was issued on June 3, 2014, is related to technology that allows the users’ mobile network carrier to initiate a call forwarding feature. This enables incoming calls during international travel low cost, hence saves roaming expenses for its customers. Vonage already has three more patents in its bag from the same technology. It had launched an app on April 23, featuring the same technology, called ReachME Roaming™. The app was meant for the company’s Vonage Mobile® application.

The second patent was issued on May 20 and is related to a technology that helps in improving a VoIP provider’s capacity. With enhanced ability, users can not only ensure better service quality but it also assists them troubleshoot issues related to quality. Vonage’s technology allows the provider to distinguish two different legs of the same call when they both belong to the same communication. With these two new patents, Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE:VG)’s patent records have reached to number 43.
