Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) Fios Broadband Service Praised In The 4th Federal Communications Commission Report

Boston, MA 06/20/2014 (wallstreetpr) – According to the Latest FCC Broadband Performance Tests, the customers of Verizon FiOS, a Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) venture, get more than what they pay for their Internet speeds. The report called Measuring Broadband America Fixed Report by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was released on June 18, 2014.

It measured the reliability as well as speed of the Internet for residential broadband services. The study measured 14 largest broadband services providers in the U.S., based on the tests which were conducted in September 2013. This was the 4th report issued by FCC along with an independent company known as SamKnows.

Verizon’s Performance as per the Report

The study conducted by FCC/SamKnows revealed that each FiOS Internet speed tier sustained as well as delivered over 100% of the goals of the company. Till date, over 50% of the overall FiOS Internet customers are the subscribers of FiOS Quantum speeds which start from 50/25 megabits per second mbps and goes up to 500/100 mbps for the download and upload. The report revealed that during the peak hours between 7-11 pm also, FiOS did not demonstrate high rate of latency.

Statement from the chief marketing officer for Verizon’s consumer and mass market business unit

The Chief Marketing Officer for Consumer and Mass Market Business Unit, Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), Mike Ritter said that the report shows that the FiOS customers of Verizon were achieving more than what they are paying in terms of the Internet services. He added that the report from FCC recognised the work of the team that strives to deliver the superfast and consistent broadband services to the customers.

He added that these days, people are including more and more Internet-connected devices for the Internet-enabled applications. FiOS, Mike Ritter explained, is proven as the all-fiber-optic network which has the capability of delivering 10 gigabit symmetrical speeds, which is equivalent and in fact, exceeds the appetite of the customer for the data.
