US Airways Group Inc (NYSE:LCC) and American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL) Decide Not to be listed on Orbitz

Boston, MA 09/02/2014 (wallstreetpr) – As per the recent reports, American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL) and US Airways Group Inc (NYSE:LCC) have decided to de-list themselves from Orbitz. The main reason behind this de-listing is but the high charges levied by the travel company on these airlines.

Impact of this delisting on Orbitz:

The market shares of Orbitz fell by 5% as soon as the news of delisting of US Airways Group Inc (NYSE:LCC) and AAL went public. Reporters tried to get in touch with the management of both the airlines for a clearer view. AAL said that it had already dropped all the fares that it used to generate through Orbitz while the management of LCC made sure that its listing from Orbitz would be pulled on coming Monday. American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL) is not happy at all with the kind of rates that Orbitz tried to levied on it; hence, the company has decided to stop further relationship with other websites of Orbitz like Cheap Tickets and European-based ebookers.com as well. Although both of these sites had been selling the seats in American Flights.

Impact on customers:

As per the reports, corporate customers will still be able to book their tickets via Orbitz while the individual customers will have to go to company’s website to book their tickets. Although they can also take help of travel agents and rivals of Orbitz to book their tickets. American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL) has not yet stopped services for corporate customers that mean that only those individuals will be affected from this decision of AAL, who seek to book flights for leisure trips.

According to Scott Kirby, President of American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL), “Our Company had been worked hard to offer cost-effective tickets to all the passengers through Orbitz over the last many years.” Although other rivals like Southwest Airlines save huge commissions by selling all the tickets through its website. AAL thinks that it can do the same which will help it to offer cost-effective flight tickets in coming time as well.
