Truecaller is a startup from Sweden which has created a mobile app to access reverse-lookup phone directory. Truecallerapp, currently available on Android,Apple’siOS, Blackberry, Nokia and Windows Phone displays name of the unknown caller to the user, whose number is not stores in the phone.
What New Partnership Brings
Through the partnership with Twitter, the Truecaller user will now be able to find the Twitter handle of the people with the help of their phone numbers and would also allow them to follow and tweet.
With this partnership, Twitter will be able to reach to more than 22 million Truecaller users in the country. This number is significant as it roughly amounts to one-third of the smartphone users in India. The future too looks bright as Truecaller is able to add nearly 1 million users a week and roughly 500,000 of these users belong to India. The Twitter collaboration with Truecaller will come effective on Android app first, and later to iOS app by the year 2014.
Twitter Abroad Connection
Its been visible that the Twitter’s effort to position itself abroad has been fetching positive results to it. As evident from its revenues from outside the U.S., which stood at $53 million, a 17% of the total revenues. At the same time, till the first nine months of the year 2013, ending on September 30, the company achieved $106.7 million mark which accounts for 25% of the total revenue. Remarkebly, Twitter has more users outside home, quite be made out from its 179 million users internationally in comparison to 52.7 million back home.
