Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) Introduces Chhirp For iOS Lets You Tweet 12-Second Voice Clips

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is at it again with yet another interactive idea. The company is introducing a new application for iOS that will enable users to post 12-second audio clips onto the social network.

The social network recently introduced video streaming support with the Periscope and Meerkat applications. Now it has made a new addition by bringing Chhirp into the family. Chirp is a recently released application that gives users the ability to record audio messages that last 12 seconds. The voice clip can then be shared directly through the app on your phone.

Chhirp will also incorporate tweet cards so that it will be possible to playback the content on the timeline. The audio messages that have been nicknamed Chhirps will also play on a loop. The feature has been described to be very similar to vine, but the only difference is that Chhirp is purely on audio support.

The application is only exclusive to iOS though it is not known whether the future will see it being introduced to other operating systems. However, one can access the Chhirps on the web or Twitter regardless of the device you are using.

The company developers reported that several tests have already been carried out, and they have established that the application is working well as intended. However, the feature does not have a delete option for the Chhirps. Hopefully, this important detail will be repaired in the future. The video additions recently introduced to Twitter created a massive buzz and proved to be successful for Twitter and the respective affiliate companies. Initial run tests and a few weeks after release will establish whether the audio feature will follow a similar success path.

CEO and co-founder of Cord Project Inc, Thomas Gayno said that the idea of using audio is expected to complement the market which has responded very well to Instagram and vines. The company aims to utilize a niche that they identified when observing that pictures, and short videos gained a lot of popularity on social networks.
