Boston, MA 10/14/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Intelligent Platforms business unit, which is a fully owned business of industrial giant General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) announced on the sidelines of the AUSA conference that it has received a new order worth $2.6 million from BAE Systems Platforms and Services. The AUSA conference is being held at the Washington Convention Center, Washington DC and will conclude on 15th October. The contract is related to the supply of new generation “3U VPX COTS Rugged Systems” by Intelligent Platforms to BAE Systems. The cutting edge technology platform allows defence equipment and systems to achieve “High Performance Embedded Computing” at demanding temperatures and varied operating conditions.
It was reported on 13th October that, The Advanced Turbine Engine Company (ATEC), LLC has completed the first round of successful testing of its second generation HPW 3000 engines. The company is a joint venture vehicle set up by Honeywell International, Inc. (NYSE: HON) and United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX). United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX) has invested into the JV via its fully owned division Pratt & Whitney. The engines are being developed as part of the multimillion dollar “Advanced Affordable Turbine Engine Science and Technology” program being funded by the Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate. On successful testing and approval, the newly developed engines would be replacing the old engines which power the “U.S. Army Black Hawk and Apache helicopters.”
