The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU) Strikes Partnership With 20th Century Fox For Rio 2

Boston, MA 04/21/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Global payment services leader, The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU) has announced of a partnership with 20th Century Fox for its recent animated film, RIO 2.

On the partnership

Western Union sees this partnership as a means to create a unique something between two very well known brands in their respective fields, and centering on a common theme of fresh and creative content. RIO 2 is a sequel to the original hit film and boasts of a stellar cast, a vibrant soundtrack and rich characters. This partnership would also go out and expand the consumer reach of both these notable brands, with a global marketing campaign.

The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU)’s senior vice president, Laston Charriez, said that RIO 2 would allow their customers to engage in a fun, artistic approach and convey a connection one shares with their family and loved ones. He also added that this specific theme would resonate well with the sentiments of their customers and Western Union was proud of it.

Western Union is known to have a special perspective on global citizens, who cross borders in order to work and live. For these people, who use money transfer services to support their families back home, staying deeply connected to their roots is essential.

Zachary Eller, SVP Marketing Partnerships at 20th Century Fox said that they were proud and excited to partner Western Union for RIO 2. He added that millions of WU customers would be their moviegoers, and it was an opportunity to combine WU’s customer base with clever marketing.

What will the partnership be like?

This collaboration between the two giants, for marketing purposes, will see TV advertising, point of sale, print, online and social media marketing, and a consumer scratch and win the game in the U.S. the current campaign will through till May 18. RIO 2 premiered on March 21 in Miami and was released on April 11 nationwide.
