The promotion of Jony Ive was met with a lot of mixed feelings while many contemplated what it meant for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
As soon as Jony Ive was promoted to Chief Design Officer, analysts in the tech industry started making inferences about the decision. Some claim that it is the tech company’s decision or strategy to slowly let him go. However, that might not be the case. Some sources claim that Ive might be making considerations to go back to Blighty. This inference is based on his interview.
Looking at the situation from another angle, the situation might be a simple case of an organization placing the best talent where it is best deserved or best qualified. Ive might, therefore, be Apple’s best choice for the design department. He had a good relationship with the late Steve Jobs, but it is not clear whether he has established a good relationship with the current CEO, Tim Cook.
Apple is trying to place the best talent into the best product placement especially for the company’s diverse product and service quality. Ive might be the best-qualified person to man the design helm. It is not yet confirmed that he is staying permanently because things change. What’s clear is the fact that Apple is making sure that they fully exploit his services for now.
Ive has served as Apple’s design vice president for a few years. Also to his new position as the chief design officer, he will manage the software and industrial designs for Apple’s future designs. Richard Howarth will take over Ive’s previous job as vice president of industrial design.
Howarth has been working at Apple since the company introduced its first generation devices. Allan Dye will take over the VP position for the UID (user interface design) division. The division covers both mobile and desktop devices. His input played a major role in the development of iOS 7.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) hopes the new leadership shuffle will help the company maintain more efficiency in achieving its objectives and staying at the top.
