The Hillshire Brands Company (NYSE:HSH) Acquired for $8 Billion

Boston, MA 06/10/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE:TSN) acquires The Hillshire Brands Company (NYSE:HSH) by paying a huge amount of approximately $7.7 Billion. Tyson won the bidding battle by offering its $63 a share and beating its close competitor Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation (NYSE:PPC) by a margin of $1 Billion. Tyson has just won the half deal as the acquisition won’t be a complete one until and unless Hillshire concludes its $4.3 Billion deal to buy Pinnacle Foods (NYSE:PC). With this contract, Tyson would become the foremost sales leader of frozen foods as Hillshire Farm and Jimmy Dean, both being the prominent elements of Hillshire Brands.

Once being the big part of Sara Lee, Hillshire Brands Company (NYSE:HSH) tried to set its base and to nurture on its own in the food market after it broke up in 2011. The business confirmed its growth as its deal with Pinnacle Foods was about to finalize, but it couldn’t do much as the two giant food companies initiated the bidding process. The total cash transaction for the deal accounts to $8.5 billion, including the Hillshire’s stupendous net arrears. This amount would also comprise of the crumble fee of $163 million, in which the Hillshire would be relieved off from the acquisition of Pinnacle Foods (NYSE:PC).

Moreover, as per the news from Tyson officials, they will benefit from this deal. From this procurement, the company would save a huge amount annually regarding its operations, purchasing and distribution department. The total amount estimated is approximately $300 million per annum. Also, the deal would give the leverage to Tyson, where it would be able to expand its market giving an antagonism to its competitors in various categories of foodstuff. The shares of Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE:TSN) fumbled as soon as the acquisition was over, reason being, and the investors are still in dilemma whether the firm has overpaid for the deal. Well, would be interesting to have a look, where Tyson would reach from here.
