Boston, MA 04/24/2014 (wallstreetpr) – SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR), a leading manufacturer and designer of highly efficient and reliable solar panels, has planned solar power systems for 5 Pajaro Valley Unified School District Campuses. Reportedly, the company in collaboration with PVUSD has decided to install highly efficient SunPower solar power systems of 1.2 megawatts. The installation would be confined to five district schools, thereby enriching and supporting the academic programs of those schools.
New project required to cut down costs
As expected by SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR), based on the current utility rates, the extraction of solar power from the systems would cut down the annual electricity costs to approximately $380,000. Moreover, the company believes, the new project would offset about 74% of the total electricity usage at the five school sites, thereby supporting the enrichment programs of PVUSD. As said by Brett McFadden, the chief business officer of PVUSD, the new project is expected to optimize the savings. The company is installing solar systems at the parking lots of the sites and thus taking advantage of the underutilized space.
Company relying on high efficient systems
With the new project on the cards, SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR), is relying on its high efficient solar power systems and panels. The proven and reliable technology of the company is required to reduce the costs and exploit the savings. Though two of the five solar systems are already in place, the rest of the lot is scheduled to be completed soon. The company works at the school districts in California in order to reduce the operating costs and direct the savings to the schools.
An environment friendly project
According to estimates of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the power systems at the site are expected to reduce about 921 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per annum. PVUSD the biggest district in Santa Cruz County is assumed to get maximum benefits and returns from this project.
