Sprint expanding its LTE networks
Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) is also focused on a wide range of infrastructural development having completed 5,000 new Clearwire LTE Sites in 2013. The company now expects to complete another 2,000 sites in the first half of the year. Sprint is in line to launch its 2.5GHZ network in some selected areas covering approximately 100 million LTE POPs.
The acquisition of Handmark Inc, will aid in the offering of advertising services targeted by the enterprise segment. The acquisition will also aid in branding the company’s app development capabilities. As part of its expansion strategy, the company is stepping beyond its domestic domain and seeking other opportunities in other key markets such as Europe.
The latest landmark Comes at the back of Sprint announcing it had entered into an agreement with competitive Carriers Association to accelerate its effort for deploying 4G LTE networks to rural areas. The partnership intends to ensure that over250 million people get access to LTE services by 2014. Verizon already covers over 300 million with its network. LTE network continues to gain momentum having already covered approximately 101 countries.
Sprint Unveils Smartphone for Kids
Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) has unveiled a smartphone for kids of which parents will use to keep a closer watch of their kids. The smartphone is geared towards kids below the age of 12 and is thought to be shatterproof as well as waterproof.
The smartphone will have an address book able to hold up to 20 contacts with a GPS technology for tracking purposes.
