The specialty of this data plan is that so far, it is the cheapest unlimited data plan in the industry, which is grappling in stiff competition. The carrier is trying to reverse declining subscriber base.
The Chase for Others’ Subscribers
In the rat race of catching up in subscriber’s numbers, the wireless carriers are not running after each other’s number of subscribers as all of them try to enhance revenue a bit in the market which has reached its saturation point. As far as the price slashing is concerned, it has become the top most priority for the new CEO of Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S), Marcelo Claure, who is attempting transition of the company suffering from customer deficiency because of network overhaul.
Sprint’s New Offering: A Competition for T-Mobile
The new offering of Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) is $20 cheaper in comparison to the unlimited plan offered by T-Mobile US Inc (NYSE:TMUS). Sprint’s new price offer is made available for the existing and new customers who offer their own mobile phones or even pay a complete price for new device.
The announcement came in response to T-Mobile’s launch of campaign for attracting new subscribers from other carriers. In the new campaign launched by T-Mobile, an existing subscriber will be able to enjoy an unlimited data plan absolutely free for a period of one year, if he/she convinces his/her friend (who will also enjoy unlimited data plan) to switch to T-Mobile from other carrier.
Clash of the Titans
This, it seems, is the clash of top titans. Earlier in this week only, Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) had doubled its data offerings in family plans for its existing customers. On the other hand, Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) had chopped down its unlimited talking and texting plan prices for attracting more customers.
