Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) Lures Customers With New Family Data Plans

Boston, MA 08/19/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Communication services provider Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) had announced a new shared-data plans providing consumers with double the high-speed data but at a cheaper cost than its rivals Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) subsidiary Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T).

Family Data Pack

The company had introduced a family plan called Sprint Family Share Pack allowing the consumers to enjoy 20 GB of shared data with unlimited talk and text by paying $100 a month. It would not matter if the family size were 3 or 5 or 10 as long as the consumers take up to ten lines. The plans would be available from August 22 and would be available through 2015.

Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) said that under the family share pack, it would offer double the high-speed data transmission for basic phones or tablets or smartphones or mobile broadband devices. The company cited an instance of a consumer getting four lines of 20 GB of data for $160 versus 10 GB data from Verizon or AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) for the same cost.

In addition to the above, the company would also be offering 20 GB of shared data apart from unlimited text and talk for $100 a month till 2015 for a family of up to ten lines. The company would also be providing an additional bonus of 2GB per line for maximum of ten lines.

Management Speaks

The Chief Executive Officer of Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S), Marcelo Claure, said that the latest offer would provide the best value to its customers, who were data-hungry. He said that the company had doubled the speed of wireless data since customers depend heavily on smart devices such as tablets and smartphones.

The company’s CEO had also disclosed that it would reimburse customers the cost to close their contract with its rival carrier in case the customer switches to Sprint’s family share pack. It believes that the offer was the best on the wireless segment currently.
