Sprint Corp (NYSE:S) has launched a new program, earlier today, where it shall hand-deliver customer’s phone upgrade to them at their own houses. They shall also help their customers to transfer their data and configure their new device. The service was primarily launched in Kansas City.
The service, called as Direct 2 You service, shall be initially open to only those existing customers, who are eligible for an upgrade in their device. The service is claimed to be free, and shall be categorized as an optional service. The company mentioned that they would meet their eligible customers at any location they might specify, be it their office, a coffee shop or their gym, and would arrive exactly on time.
The service however, will not be handled directly by them and will involve support executives from a third party partner. However, the partners would arrive in a vehicle branded by Sprint and would guide their customers through the process of changing their phones. The entire process should take less than an hour. Customers could also have their old device valued by ‘Direct 2 You’ technicians. They could then sell the device for bill credit, which sounds similar to their ‘in-story’ program.
It seems as though Sprint Corp (NYSE:S) is considering the old school approach when it comes to customer service and to some extent, it might be interesting to see the outcomes. The service shall seem to be ‘tailor made’ for especially those people, who do desire a new phone, but at the same time, does not like the hassle of configuring it.
The Direct 2 You service of Sprint is expected to start from today. A team of 30 members will be included in it. Moreover, Sprint estimated that it would create nearly 5,000 new jobs as the service gets fully rolled out. New customers will also be eligible for the service but only after September. It is expected that the service would arrive in Chicago and Miami within April 20. It expects to expand this service to the whole country by the end of this year.
