Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) has introduced a premium version of its Xperia Z3 flagship smartphone known as the Xperia Z3+.
Sony has been putting up a solid and noticeable stand in the for premium handsets. The competition has been stiff, but the company has managed to bring unique factors on board. That is part of the reason Sony Xperia Z phones have been successful. The new Xperia Z3+ has managed to live up to the Xperia brand expectations.
The Xperia Z3+ carries some features from its predecessors. It is dust resistant and waterproof. Its housing resembles the usual Sony Xperia design but with a few notable changes. Sony has included a few significant changes that are worth mentioning. The most important might be the cameras.
Both cameras will use Exmor sensors. The front camera, also known as the selfie camera is now 5 megapixels, an elevation from the previous 2 megapixels. The back camera has not changed much and it still 20.7 megapixels.
In terms of size, the device has a 5.2-inch display with full 1080p HD. This is similar to the Xperia Z3 and slightly smaller than some of the major competitors like the Samsung Galaxy s6 and the LG G4. But size here doesn’t matter. In fact, the Z3 has some extremely exciting news with regards to its processing capacity.
Rumors had it that Sony would introduce a powerful Octa core processor has been rumors for a long time. Now those rumors have become a reality with the Xperia Z3+. The device houses an octacore processor. And, of course, it is a Snapdragon 810 processor from QUALCOMM.
The overall effect is a more refined device with a lot of power and capabilities. And to handle all that processing power, Sony Corp (ADR)(NYSE:SNE) has revamped the battery, an effort that is supposed to give the device enough power for two days. The overall design is also slimmer than its predecessor, and it also weighs less. The new dimensions feature a 6.9mm bezel, and the actual weight is 144 grams.
