Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) Hits The Market With A New Camera, A7S II Which Records 4k While In Total Darkness

The latest news from Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) is that A7S camera now has a successor, the A7S II. For the longest time possible, A7S was viewed as the best low-light camera. However, it was intended for that particular purpose but A7S II is way above anyone’s expectations.

The unique and notable feature is that it can see in near pitch-black light recording it in 4K and without any enhancement gear. Initially, the A7S was very noisy and even though the ISO 50-409,600 range hasn’t been changed, there is a lot of optimism that A7S II will perform much better.

Well, it’s the desire of every photographer and videographer to work with a distinguished camera that will deliver. There are prominent features within this camera that cannot go unmentioned. They include: –

  • Exceptional 5-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) whose effectiveness is rated to 4.5 stops of light. The features enable one to shoot handheld photos using much lower shutter speeds. It was introduced for A7S II and will work with any lens attached to the camera.
  • When using a telephoto or zoom lenses, the performance is good. The video tends to look much smoother during motion. As such the necessity for an external stabilizing system for small movements is eradicated, and videographers can have much lesser packed gears.
  • It is possible to save a 4K video internally with A7S II at a higher 100Mbps bitrate unlike with A7S where one had to connect an external rig to any 4k video. Besides, the video can be decelerated down in-camera five times over the typical 24 frames per second.

Many on-the-go-videographers have embraced the changes citing that it’s a much more powerful tool that will help in reflecting professionalism and good quality for their work.

The new gadget whose launch will take place in October is estimated to cost around $3,000. While this may sound expensive to many to some point, it is affordable, and every professional understand this. Besides, with its closest competitor being Panasonic GH4, there is none other of its make and type in the market.
