Boston, MA 09/09/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Sky-mobi Ltd (ADR) (NASDAQ:MOBI) appointed Mr. Gio Zhang as Senior VP, Game Operations on September 8, 2014. Mr. Zhang will be responsible for the segment’s functions such as development and execution of mobile gaming strategy and expansion of the business in key international markets including Japan, South Korea and the U.S.
Mobile gaming – a fast-growing industry
Mobile gaming is one of the emerging markets with increasing demand for smartphones in developing as well as developed countries. But, the competition is very intense as market leaders expand their and new players offer excellent features at cheaper price. So, the development of new products and expansion is a key factor to drive the performance in a competitive industry.
Sky-mobi Ltd (ADR) (NASDAQ:MOBI), though, has a good presence in the Chinese gaming industry; however, it remains far behind in the international market. Therefore, the Company now targets the overseas market and offers a mobile gaming application platform for a wide range of products.
Mr. Zhang – A veteran
Sky-mobi Ltd (ADR) (NASDAQ:MOBI) aims to consolidate the domestic presence by strengthening the local partnerships and intends to grow over a global market while associating with international companies. It will help the company to enhance the gaming portfolio and extend the sourcing and distribution capabilities.
Consequently, the Company is looking for an experienced person like Mr. Zhang, who is a veteran in the mobile gaming and already had a solid experience in the global mobile gaming industry, will benefit the Company to move to the next level.
Prior to joining Sky-mobi Ltd (ADR) (NASDAQ:MOBI), Mr. Zhang was working in Glu Mobile as Managing Director of China division. He established the Chinese operation and developed the overall infrastructure while building the relationships with major game publishers and distributors of mobile games. Prior to Glu China, he was working in a similar profile with Gameloft China and looking after the business development activities in China.
Sky-mobi’s CEO, Michael Tao Song excited over the joining of Mr. Zhang, who has a strong hold over the Chinese market. He will bring his experience in both domestic and international market and strong network of relationships.
