Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRI) recently launched its first ever 24/7 talk radio channel, VOLUME. Although the channel is dedicated to music, the talks would comprise of news, controversies and debates, on a range of topics. The talk show would be conducted with a number of knowledgeable, respected and passionate people from the music industry. In addition to this, the music on the channel would also be made available from all genres and would be selected on popularity.
SIRI announced that the new channel is set to debut on October 17, at 7 a.m. The first show on the new channel would be Feedback, a morning talk show that would run for 3-hours. The first guest on the new show would be Lady Gaga. The Chief Content Officer of Sirius XM, Scott Greenstein, stated that the company has millions of music fans across the country, who can now talk about the music they like, at VOLUME. He claimed that this was another example of the company’s dedication to delivery unique content to its subscribers.
Earlier, Sirius had announced that it had successfully retained the services of Christopher Russo, aka Mad Dog. As per reports from the company, Mr. Russo has signed a 3-year contract, to keep his brand of sports talk on the Sirius XM radio only. Mr. Russo’s show, Mad Dog unleashed, would be broadcast every weekday, from 3-6 p.m. Eastern Time. The show had been launched in 2008 and is available on channel 82, on the satellite radio of the company.
Commenting on the contract with Sirius XM, Mr. Russo expressed pride at the success of the show. He also claimed that Sirius XM provides him with a free environment, which makes it exciting for him to come to work and talk sports. Mr. Greenstein labeled the show as the best all-sports-talk radio channel. He was of the opinion that the channel is still one of the most respected voices in sports media. In other news, Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRI)’s CFO, David Frear, spoke at the Deutsche Bank Leveraged Finance Conference, on September 27. The event is held annually and this year marked its 24th anniversary.
