The award is presented for its contribution in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program. It is a prestigious award given for excellent performance in the segment of occupational safety and health. Safety has been a top priority for Cascades Sonoco since its inception as a joint venture in 1992. The company has a written global health and safety policy which is signed by the company’s CEOs. As per the policy, the safety and health of the employees will be the priority at all levels of the organization. The program
The program organized by OSHA checks the worksites and compiles a list of sites reporting low injury and illness rates. It should be at par or below the national average of rates existing in the industry. As per the figures released by OSHA, the average VPP Worksite scores a lost workday incidence rate almost 50% below the average of its competitors.
