(NASDAQ:QCOM) divested its Context and Proximity Solutions (location awareness technology) to a group of third-party investors from music, sports and conglomerates. The chipmaker will remain as a minority stakeholder in the newly formed company Gimbal Inc. The Company does not disclose the transaction details.

Qualcomm’s awareness technology is an advanced Bluetooth technology equivalent to Apple’s iBeacon technology, which is more accurate than GPS and works properly in indoors.
