Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) and the Avon Foundation for Women announces $ 1 million Grants Program to support people living with Metastatic Breast Cancer

Boston, MA 06/04/2014 (wallstreetpr) – These days there is a higher attention given to breast cancer and its awareness. Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) pointed out lately that in their survey they found that more than 60% of the people know little to nothing about metastatic breast cancer which has struck nearly 50,000 women and men in the U.S. Today. The company also stated that it came as a shock to known the misperceptions of the general mass regarding its cause, treatments and outcomes. So to address this issue and to support people living with this condition, PFE and the Avon Foundation for Women have joined hands to commence the Avon-Pfizer Metastatic Breast Cancer Grants Program.

The Initiative

The total budget of this partnership is up to $ 1 million which will be granted to advocacy, spreading awareness and other non-profit organizations that have been serving the metastatic breast cancer community. Not only this, the program will also take initiatives to offer help to the patients in exploring the medical as well as emotional challenges. By establishing such a program, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) hopes to contribute at least a little in soothing the stress of the patients, their loved ones and also the general public. And The Avon Foundation is very much pleased to use this collective power to improve the lives of the people who are suffering from this unaddressed disease.

Little information on Metastatic Breast Cancer

Metastatic breast cancer happens when cancer spreads beyond breast to other parts as bones, lungs, brain, etc. and three out of 10 women who have had early breast cancer will gradually develop metastatic breast cancer. This condition is not curable at present, and continuous treatment is needed to control the spreading. Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) stated that lack of public attention to metastatic breast cancer has left the patients and their loved ones to handle by themselves the complexities of the disease, which is terrifying even to imagine.
